F1 in Schools Workshops

The aim of these workshops is to concentrate on specific portfolios (Graphic Designers, Manufacturing Engineers, Design Engineers, Team Managers and Resource Managers), letting participating learners work on something hands-on. The workshop is thus a practical, physical guide and assistance with the competition Rules and Regulations. We try to make these workshops as much fun as possible. Games are played, lunch is provided and competition videos are shown for inspiration and motivation.

Personal school-based training

Different schools have different needs. We use the school-based training mostly for new teams who haven’t participated yet. We go to a school that is interested in participating in the challenge and then give them an overview of the challenge and share some experiences. This is a much more general, yet personal, approach which works quite well.

Public Awareness

The only way Zeallous Racing can succeed with its mission and vision is with the publics support. We do this through having exhibitions and numerous public events, such as setting up the racing track in a mall and handing out brochures and exhibitions at golf- and sport days. We also make many personal visits to different sectors of the business and public world.

Social Responsibility

Our slogan, “Reaching out to the Community”, not only refers to the engineering community or the F1 community but also to those in need. As we cannot give money, we use F1 in Schools teams to help practically were we can. Our first project was renovating the Child and Family Welfare Society’s office in Kayamandi in cooperation with the Community Committee of Stellenbosch High School. Our social responsibility will always be a priority.

Future Plans

Zeallous Racing wants to be a part of an academy for school children. The aim of this academy is to give pre-university training in specific engineering divisions. Zeallous Racing will introduce F1 in Schools to primary schools and then identify candidates who would be able to go to the academy with a possible sponsorship from the private sector. This candidate will then be able to do his normal 5 years with Science and Technical Drawing as compulsory subjects. During the candidate’s high school years he/she will be able to specialize in certain areas such as architecture or CAD/CAM designing by attending extra classes held by outside companies which specialize in that area. On successfully finishing this course the candidate will automatically be accepted by a university for further studies, after which the candidate will be able to go work for the company who sponsored him/her. This academy will also be used as the headquarters of Zeallous Racing where workshops can be held and models manufactured.
