The youth still cares
Zeallous Racing is the F1 in Schools coordinators of Stellenbosch High school. The vision of Zeallous Racing is to equip the youth for a better future by teaching them vital life skills, to grow as individuals with a flair for quality and excellence. In the long term this is to contribute to a better, future for South Africa.
On Friday 13 June, the Community and student council of Stellenbosch High School went to Kayamandi to undertake a community project. Zeallous Racing was also there to assist with the project. The goal of the project was to renovate the Kayamandi Child and Family Welfare society’s office building by washing and re-painting the walls, refurbishing the waiting room and entirely renovating the outside bathroom. An entire new garden was made as well as a new addition to the steps at the entrance gate.
The Community council of Stellenbosch High School had raised several funds prior to the event to assure enough funds to pay for the paint, cleaning aids, plants and the furniture of the building. It took two days to finish the project.
Hugo Minnaar founder of Zeallous (owning company of Zeallous Racing) is exited about the enthusiasm with which the students had participated in the project. Most of the students were exposed to the circumstances of the people in this environment for the first time, which further inspired them to work even harder, knowing that they can mean something for their fellow people.
The staff of the Kayamandi Child and Family Welfare Society was overjoyed by the amount of students that participated in the project. “It’s really wonderful for us to see that the youth is still interested, and still cares about the welfare of other” said Cecile Van Huyssteen, the principle social worker of the area.
