Interview with Hugo Minnaar
Johannes Jonker, brand ambassador for Hip2B2, did an interview with Hugo Minnaar regarding his company Zeallous for his Hip2B2 project.
Hugo, you recently founded the Zeallous Company. What exactly is the company’s philosophy and function?
That is correct. Zeallous on its own is a brand name. It stands for eco-friendly quality and promotes the sustainable use of resources. When one sees Zeallous it must reflect high quality and good clean fun without destroying our beautiful planet. Zeallous connects its name to different projects and companies which will operate according to the same values.
Why did you decide to start with a project as such?
I believe that people must also trust a company or organization just as they would like to trust their friends and family. I wanted to start with something that will make the best positive contribution to our society and to the world we live in through our day to day lives. I wanted to start rolling the ball for a brand name that will be known for its quality and its values throughout the world in almost every aspect of our lives from food to clothing to charity. Zeallous was born.
Could you explain the name to us? Does the double ‘l’ carry a special meaning?
Zeallous carries the same meaning as the English word Zealous (showing zeal: passion, enthusiasm and endurance). Zeallous (with the extra ‘L’) means to be zealous for Leadership, Loyalty and sustainable Living.
Zeallous Racing is one of Zeallous’ initiatives. Do you currently have any other initiatives running? What can we look forward to?
Yes, Zeallous Racing was the first project to be initiated. Zeallous Racing focuses on teaching the youth vital life skills through engineering. Other initiatives currently running is Zeallous Media. Zeallous Media does graphic designing, layouts and any other digital designing work. In the near future Zeallous Media will have a series of published papers containing information and advertisements of eco-friendly products and services such as solar panels. Other initiatives include Zeallous Bio-Diesel (still looking for interested companies with waste oil), Zeallous Clothing and a F1 in Schools team, Team Zeallous. Towards the future you will see a lot of expansion from Zeallous food products to school stationary. As I said previously the long term focus is to become world renowned.
What is your role inside the company and what do your duties consist of?
I am the founder and owner of the Zeallous group. My main duties is to ensure that all of our divisions or doing business according to Zeallous values. All the paperwork go trough me before it is filed away so that I can always stay on top of what’s going on. My other big task is to seek more and better opportunities for Zeallous to expand and to find talented people to run the different divisions.
Can people get involved in Zeallous and its initiatives, and if so, how?
Anybody who agrees with what Zeallous stands for or have ideas on how Zeallous can improve can contact me using our website’s contact form www.zeallous.co.za/contact or give me a call on 073 023 7447. Any suggestions or comments are also more than welcome. There is also room for people or businesses that would like to become partners or would like to carry the Zeallous name. For example: If you have a dry-cleaning company and you promote sustainable use of resources and deliver quality work – we could discuss opening Zeallous dry-cleaning.
On a personal note, what/who is your inspiration? What are your plans for the future?
I’d have to say that Richard Branson founder of the Virgin brand is a big inspiration for me and Zeallous, but more personally my father is my inspiration. Before I turn 35 I would like Zeallous to be the name on everybody’s lips worldwide, for Zeallous to be a trusted brand name known for its quality and to have a good reputation for having a positive effect on people and the environment. I want to be zealous for Leadership, Loyalty and sustainable Living while still enjoying life and having fun.
